Introducing My Guest Post Series: "What Caught Their Eye" + Steve Knorsch
Over the last few months on this newsletter, you have all seen me share a variety of things I love, what I’m buying, and more. Well, I’m happy to be handing the reins over to someone else from time to time!
I’ve hinted at it, but today is the official launch of a new series I’m calling What Caught Their Eye. Here, I’ve invited a variety of guests editors, from artists to executives, to curate five items that they recommend just for you.
Below is my first guest, Steve Knorsch. Read more about him and see his five picks below.
Cheers!
Introducing Steve Knorsch, Managing Director USA, Cad & The Dandy
A native of Belgium, Steve moved to the USA in 2016 to pursue his dream of starting a career in the menswear industry. After working for over 20 years in corporate jobs, he is thrilled to be in a career that he is innately interested in.
"Helping clients find their style and many times helping them with clothes that actually fit them (many times, for the first time in their lives) is so rewarding."
What Caught Steve’s Eye
Belgian Loafers
As a Belgian living in New York, nothing feels closer to home as wearing my Mister Casuals. The iconic house slipper turned shoe by adding a proper sole after breaking it in, is one of the most comfortable shoes out there. Ironic is that these are made in Belgium, but no one in Belgium really knows about them, unless you’ve been to New York and been introduced to them by your Upper East Side friends and welcomed to the Those Who Know, Know club.
For Spring they just released a new style in woven suede available in 3 colors, Savoia Blue, Antelope and Golf Green that will keep you looking stylish from morning till eve.

Cad & The Dandy Safari Jacket
The Safari Jacket in chocolate and cognac suede will be back in the spring ready-to-wear collection. Available through the online shop, or in limited quantities at the New York Penthouse, this modern take on the classic safari jacket can literally take you from the African Savannah through the urban jungle. In cognac and chocolate, it pairs well with khaki linen or white denim for a cool spring evening and can carry you right into fall. The safari jacket is the perfect choice when a traditional suit or even a sportscoat is too “dressy.” You’ll always carry and air of adventure wearing it, and look casual but well-attired.

Brew Watch Co. Retrograph Watch
Let me start by saying that I am not a big watch guy. That said, when the Retrograph in Espresso designed and made in the U.S. by Jonathan Ferrer blew me away, when I ran across it on social media. With a style that harkens back to the 1970s, it is at the same time a totally modern timepiece crafted with quality materials that will literally stand the test of time.

Gripping, sly, suspenseful, haunting and often darkly funny, The Shards is Ellis at his best. Even the playlists that have popped up on Spotify and Amazon Music, evoke the time ands place of the novel perfectly. A must read for fans of Ellis and of the 1980’s LA scene.

Hotel Chelsea
An icon returns. The newly-renovated Hotel Chelsea has had a major facelift and yet maintains all of its historic charm. Home to the likes of Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe, Dylan Thomas, Edie Sedgewick, Charles James and infamously, Sid and Nancy, the Chelsea returns better than ever. No doubt the current New York demi-monde will find their way back to the luxurious bars and lounges of this storied haunt. The “preserved in amber” El Quijote restaurant has reopened and is a perfect step back in time with the same cool vibe it has always maintained.
